A 15-year-old boy who was shot and killed last week at an Orlando apartment complex was a student at Dr. Phillips High School, according to Orange County Public Schools.

The Orlando Police Department said officers responded to a shooting around 4 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Villages on Millenia apartment community. Upon arrival they found Destin Webster-Thompson with a gunshot wound.

OPD said Thompson was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital in critical condition but he later died.

An investigation is ongoing.

On Oct. 31, Principal Jackie Ramsey sent a message to parents and staff telling them, “with a heavy heart,” about the “untimely, tragic death of one of our students who was a victim of senseless violence.”

Ramsey said counselors were made available to anyone on campus who needed to talk about the death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Orlando Police Homicide Unit or make an anonymous tip to Crimeline at 800-423-8477.
