Undefeated regular seasons in back-to-back years keeps Edgewater at No. 1 in the Sentinel Super 16 rankings entering the FHSAA playoffs.
The Eagles have extended their regular-season win streak to 28 dating to a loss at Venice in September 2021.
Edgewater and Sanford Seminole, No. 2 in the Super 16, host playoff games Friday. No. 3 Lake Mary, which turned in an impressive shutout at previously unbeaten Daytona Beach Mainland, opens on the road at Boone.
No. 5 Jones travels to No. 11 Oviedo, where the winner of that contest likely advances to play at Edgewater in the second round.
No. 4 DeLand could get a rematch at No. 9 Orange City University if both record wins vs. Volusia County foes this week.
No. 6 Olympia hosts a district rematch in its opener against rival Dr. Phillips, which dropped one spot to No. 12 in the rankings.
The final Sentinel Super 16 rankings of 2023 will be released following the FHSAA state playoffs in December.
The Super 16 consists of schools in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and southwest Volusia counties. Last week’s ranking and win-loss records are included in parentheses.

1. Edgewater (10-0): Cai Bates and Jaden Brown intercepted passes while Kaden Shields-Dutton and A.J. Howard each scored twice during 42-14 win at Boone (5-5). Next: Friday vs. Jacksonville First Coast (6-4).
2. Seminole (8-2): Off last week. Next: Friday vs. Hagerty (6-4).
3. Lake Mary (9-1): John Scarelli and Brad Billups had sacks and Luke Prieto recovered fumble and blocked punt in 33-0 win at Daytona Beach Mainland (9-1). Next: Friday at Boone (5-5).
4. DeLand (8-2): Bulldogs enter Class 4 Suburban playoffs winners in eight of past nine games following 58-23 triumph at Flagler Palm Coast (3-7). Next: Friday vs. Port Orange Spruce Creek (7-3).
5. Jones (7-3): Seniors Lamarius Fair and Tyrin Randle each tallied 13 total tackles as Tigers won 37-10 vs. then-No. 11 Dr. Phillips (6-4). Next: Friday at No. 11 Oviedo (8-2).
6. Olympia (8-2): Josh Evans, Xavier Tucker and Romelo Walker scored receiving touchdowns during 28-0 win at Groveland South Lake (2-8). Next: Friday vs. No 12 Dr. Phillips (6-4).
7. Lake Minneola (7-3): Hawks finished regular season with seven victories in eight games after holding off Lakeland Lake Gibson (5-5) for 43-36 win. Next: Friday vs. Haines City (6-4).
8. Winter Park (9-0): Ayden Pouncey had 261 all-purpose yards with TDs on reception and punt return in 47-24 win at Lake Brantley (2-8). Next: Friday vs. Jacksonville Mandarin (7-3).
9. Orange City University (9-1): Boat Powell intercepted pass and Isaiah Baker and Jabailey Morris each scored twice during 41-0 win at Deltona (1-9). Next: Friday vs. New Smyrna Beach (6-4).
10. Apopka (7-3): Blue Darters rallied from 19-point deficit in second half to prevail 29-28 vs. then-No. 13 Wekiva (4-6). Next: Friday vs. No. 15 Evans (5-5).
11. (12) Oviedo (8-2): Bryson Blanford intercepted pass and Joey Gioia forced fumble in 48-14 win vs. Hagerty (6-4). Next: Friday vs. No. 5 Jones (7-3).
12. (11) Dr. Phillips (6-4): Taylor Harris converted on 37-yard field goal and quarterback Stanley Anderson rushed for short TD as DP lost 37-10 at No. 5 Jones (7-3). Next: Friday at No. 6 Olympia (8-2).
