Familiar matchups will ring in the start of the Florida High School Athletic Association football playoffs this week.
Olympia hosts rival Dr. Phillips, Apopka is home vs. Evans, and Kissimmee Osceola travels to Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast on Friday in the regional quarterfinal round.
The FHSAA revealed final playoff power rankings and postseason brackets Sunday morning during a live online stream. Regional tournament tickets are available for $10 at the GoFan website.
The Titans won 31-21 at DP on Oct. 13 for their second consecutive victory in the series since snapping a 19-game skid last year.
Apopka defeated Evans 33-13 on Oct. 26 and has overrun the Trojans in most meetings the past two decades. Osceola opened the season with a 22-8 loss at Treasure Coast and faces the Titans for the fourth time in two years.
Lake Mary and Edgewater are No. 1 seeds in their respective regions, which comes with home-field advantage in the regional semifinal and championship rounds.
The Rams, ranked No. 6 overall in the state and No. 1 in Class 4 Metro, will open on the road in Region 1 at district champion Boone (5-5).
An Edgewater win vs. Jacksonville First Coast in 3M Region 1 would set up a second-round contest against the winner of No. 4 Jones and No. 5 Oviedo. The Eagles, who finished undefeated in back-to-back regular seasons, ranks No. 12 in the state and No. 2 in 3M.
Oviedo, a district champion, hosts the Tigers in a playoff rematch from last year. Jones won that meeting 49-19.
More favorable seeds are home in the first round except when a non-district winner faces a district champion.
Sanford Seminole defeated Lake Mary 29-28 two weeks ago to win its district but is seeded No. 2 behind the Rams in 4M. The ‘Noles rank No. 9 overall.
Winter Park is the No. 4 seed in 4M-1 despite finishing the regular season with a 9-0 record.
Lake Minneola (4 Suburban Region 2), Orange City University (4S-3) and Orlando Christian Prep (1M-1) also secured No. 2 region seeds.
University hosts New Smyrna Beach and No. 3 DeLand is home vs. Port Orange Spruce Creek in 4S District 9 rematches from the regular season.
Like Seminole, district winner DeLand finished behind University in the final playoff power rankings despite defeating the Titans 14-3 on Oct. 20.
