The Florida High School Athletic Association is scheduled to release its final football playoff power rankings and postseason brackets Sunday at 10 a.m. during a live broadcast on its YouTube channel.
Friday’s Week 11 schedule will help solidify regional seeding, which includes tight races for Orlando area teams hoping to shore up home-field advantage in the quarterfinal, semifinal and region championship rounds.
Lake Mary (8-1) maintains the No. 1 seed ahead of Sanford Seminole (8-2) by a 17.13 to 17.02 margin in Class 4 Metro Region 1, per Tuesday’s updated rankings.
The ‘Noles closed out their regular season by beating Lake Mary 29-28 when the teams played for the District 2 title last week. The Rams finish Friday at unbeaten Daytona Beach Mainland (9-0).
Opposing strength-of-schedule could play a factor in the final rankings for Winter Park (8-0, 10.81), Apopka (6-3, 10.80) and Jacksonville Mandarin (6-2, 10.60) as each vies for the No. 3 seed in the region.
Mandarin hosts St. Johns Bartram Trail (5-4) and Apopka is home vs. rival Wekiva (4-5). Winter Park plays at Lake Brantley (1-8), which recently forfeited a Sept. 8 win vs. Naples Palmetto Ridge (2-7) due to an ineligible player.
Orange City University (8-1, 15.49) dropped to No. 2 behind Port St. Lucie Treasure Coast (7-2, 15.60) and DeLand (7-2, 14.01) moved up one spot to No. 3 in 4S Region 3 rankings.
DeLand claimed back-to-back district titles with a 14-3 win at University on Oct. 20.
Edgewater (9-1, 17.45) has a stronghold on the No. 1 seed in 3M Region 1. No. 4 Oviedo (7-2, 9.15) appears likely to host No. 5 Jones (6-3, 9.12) as a district champion next week.
Wekiva (4-5, 3.32) will need a win and a loss by No. 7 Tampa Wharton (5-4, 5.12) at Hillsborough (6-3) for any chance at returning to the 3M-1 playoffs. Jacksonville First Coast (5-4, 4.40) holds no worse than the No. 8 seed as a district champion.
Tavares (5-4, 3.00) is in a similar spot in 3S Region 2 as it trails New Port Richey Gulf (5-4, 3.62) for the No. 7 spot. The Bulldogs play at Clermont East Ridge (4-5) and Gulf is home vs. Brooksville Nature Tech Coast (7-2).
The last seed in the region will go to district champion New Port Richey River Ridge (4-5, 0.60).
District champion Olympia (7-2, 6.97), ranked No. 3 in 4M Region 2, and No. 4 Dr. Phillips (6-3, 6.66) could continue to climb with wins this week. The Titans play at Groveland South Lake (2-7) and DP is at Jones.
Four district champions and four at-large teams per region in large classifications qualify for the postseason based on FHSAA power rankings. Class 1M advances two district champs and two additional at-large teams per region.
Current rankings entering Week 11 are listed below for area teams and others of local interest in each region. Previous ranking, team records and FHSAA ratings are included in parentheses.
