Two teenagers are dead after a crash with a pickup truck in Lake County.

The crash happened around 7:52 p.m. on Monday, according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Both teens traveled eastbound on Goose Prairie Road West of Felkins Road in a 2016 Jeep Wrangler.

A 38-year-old Umatilla man was driving a 2005 Ford F-150 in front of the teens in the same direction.

The 17-year-old driver of the Wrangler tried to pass the F-150 in a “no passing” zone.

He drove into the direct path of the F-150, and the truck smashed into the SUV, according to FHP.

The teens traveled off the roadway onto the eastbound grass shoulder, and when he tried to overcorrect the SUV, he crossed into the westbound grass shoulder and collided with a wire fence.

First responders pronounced both teens dead at the scene.

The F-150 driver wasn’t harmed.

FHP continues investigating the crash.
