A pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run crash that occurred at approximately 4:28 a.m. Sunday morning in Osceola County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. The crash occurred on Pleasant Hill Road and Earle Court in Kissimmee.
An unknown vehicle was traveling southbound on Pleasant Hill Road in the inside lane, south of Earle Court, FHP said. The pedestrian, a 78-year-old man from Kissimmee, was crossing from an unknown direction in the southbound lane on Pleasant Hill Road, midblock, not in a marked crosswalk, south of Earle Court.
FHP said the front left of the vehicle struck the man, who was pronounced dead on-scene. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled the scene.
FHP is searching for the vehicle involved in this fatal crash. The vehicle is possibly a 2014-2019 gray Volkswagen Passat that is believed to have front and left side damage, FHP said. It is also believed to have damage to the driver side mirror and possibly the windshield.
This is an active criminal investigation.
