A bar inspired by the Jungle Cruise theme park ride will be serving up puns and beverages alongside venues that pay deference to some of the older titles in the Disney Vault such as 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and a certain Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.
Also on tap is a new dinner theater experience based on the Disney Pixar movie “Coco,” a new dessert venue themed to “Zootopia” and a spate of updates to features found on sister ship Disney Wish making their second appearance on the growing DCL fleet.

The 144,000-gross-ton, 4,000-passenger vessel currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, is the second of three in what was originally called the Trident class with the yet-to-be-named third ship due in 2025. Just like Disney Wish, Disney Treasure will run on the cleaner burning fuel liquefied natural gas.
Its maiden voyage is set for Dec. 21, 2024, sailing alternating eastern and western Caribbean itineraries out of Port Canaveral. Disney Wish will keep sailing the shorter three- and four-night Bahamas trips. Bookings open to the public on Sept. 20, 2023.
The storytelling approach that drives any Disney ship was concocted years back when the ship’s name and theme were decided, said Pam Rawlins, executive producer for Walt Disney Imagineering.
“We were inspired by Walt Disney’s love for traveling all around the world and his spirit of adventure,” she said. “We are taking you to real-world beautiful places but also some fantastical stories that we bring to life.”
That was evident with some of the features already revealed like Peter Pan and Captain Hook as the stern characters, but getting into the details with the spaces on board the ship pulling from never-before-used Disney source material was inspirational, said Danny Handke, a senior creative director for Walt Disney Imagineering,
“I think the adventure theme for Treasure resonated with all of us. Just walking into the Magic Kingdom and taking a lap going through Adventureland. That was an inspiration for a lot of us,” he said.
The cruise line concocted a character Arthur Quinn to help introduce the ship through online marketing. It included videos and an interactive treasure map of an island shaped like the ship that allows people to explore areas revealed this week as well as features previously announced, although not everything on board yet.
Media were invited on board Disney Wish at Port Canaveral recently to don virtual reality headsets at some of the spaces to get an idea of what will be coming. That includes the Aladdin-themed Grand Hall with its bronze statue of Aladdin, Jasmin and Magic Carpet. It also included new bar venues Skipper Society themed to the Jungle Cruise ride at Disney World and Disneyland and the Periscope Pub themed to both the 1954 film and the Disney World gone-but-not-forgotten attraction for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” about Captain Nemo’s ship the Nautilus and its foe the giant squid.
“Everywhere you look in here you’re going to feel like you’re on board the Nautilus,” said Jason Roberts, a senior producer with Imagineering. “All the little details, all the furnishings, sea-faring artifacts hidden here and there all around you.”
A digital screen ceiling within the pub married with projection of water ripples about the walls along with a unique soundtrack will add to the immersion, he said, although it’s still the place to watch live sports events, and so the only olfactory immersion will be “the smell of good food and beer.”
While it will feature craft brews and small plates, he wasn’t certain if squid would be available.
“That would be a really fascinating thing to have on the menu,” he said.
As for the Skipper Society, it takes the space of The Bayou on Disney Wish but themed to the Jungle Cruise attraction paying homage to the humor of the skippers among other things.
The promo video embraced the dad jokes, or bad jokes, or brilliant jokes, saying “Fun fact: the bar is actually sandstone, but most people take it for granite. It’s one of our boulder attractions” and “a little advice: never play poker in the jungle because there are a lot of cheetahs around.”
The design will also include a monkey-shaped chandelier and walls adorned with postcards and luggage tags under a canopy of jungle foliage.
Also paying deference to the theme park and tapping into a future-thinking form of nostalgia is the Tomorrow Tower Suite built into the ship’s forward funnel. It pulls inspiration from Epcot’s World Discovery neighborhood with a futurist design replete with molten metal and colorful glass accents.
The nearly 2,000-square-foot suite features a two-deck window overlooking the top deck and has room for eight, a full kitchen and private elevator.
Since the ship is sailing longer voyages than Disney Wish, many of the features on board have been supersized for content.
That includes two unique shows within two of the three rotational dining options on board since most diners will have two nights at each venue.
One of those is the second iteration of Worlds of Marvel restaurant, now with a Spider-Man appearance.
The double show approach is also in play at the brand new dining venue, though, is tied to the Disney-Pixar film “Coco” called Plaza de Coco, which takes the same space as the “Frozen”-themed Arendelle dinner theater on Wish. The theater-in-the-round experience is put on during a five-course meal with a modern take on traditional Mexican fare.
It features live performers telling the story of Miguel and his familia. The first night takes diners to Mariachi Plaza with Miguel’s parents Enrique and Luisa as well as Abuelita Elena. The second night takes diners to the town square in Santa Cecilia through where Miguel and his ancestors including great-great grandparents Hector and Mama Imelda celebrate Día de los Muertos.
“The adventure takes you through [those] heartstrings, and pulls you back into family, right?” said Carlos Jimenez, a managing producer with Disney Cruise Line Entertainment. “Doesn’t matter if you’re coming from the Mexican culture or any other culture. Family’s at the center – la familia es todo. So family is everything and we want to make sure we’re telling that beautiful story.”
The third main dining venue is a redo of 1923, a California cuisine restaurant adorned with memorabilia from Disney movies. Named after the year Walt Disney founded his animation studio, it will differ from the version on Disney Wish by delving more into a nostalgic collection of exploration themes from the company’s movies.
The ship will have higher-end dining still at the “Beauty and the Beast”-themed Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement as well as their shared cocktail lounge The Rose,
And the ship’s specialty dessert venue that includes more than 20 flavors of gelato and 16 flavors of ice cream will now be themed to “Zootopia,” sporting the name Jumbeaux Café complete with sculptures of the movie’s main characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.
Other new food and beverage venues on board include a pair of coffee, tea and snack options: Heihei Café, named after the rooster from the film “Moana,” and Jade Cricket Café, named after the cricket from the film “Mulan.”
One other revamped venue will be called Sarabi, taking the same space and role as Luna on Disney Wish. Themed to “The Lion King,” the two-deck venue acts as a family fun theater during the day and adult entertainment at night.
Just like Disney Wish, the ship will have the AquaMouse thrill ride on its top decks, a combination waterslide and dark ride themed to the Mickey Mouse animated shorts of the last decade.
Teams have worked up a new tale, though, to debut on Treasure called Curse of the Golden Egg, although it will also be rolled out to Disney Wish in time so that both ships will have three storylines available to riders.
The popular Oceaneer’s Club aimed at children ages 3-12 will have the same five venues seen on Disney Wish as well including spaces for Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Imagineers, Disney Princesses and Mickey and Minnie.
For the stage, the ship will bring back “Beauty and the Beast,” which debuted on Disney Dream, and are bringing over “Disney Seas the Day” that debuted on Disney Wish.
A mystery original Broadway-style third stage show will be announced at a later date.
Disney officials estimated that only about 50% of the new features to debut on Disney Treasure were revealed with this first volley of ship feature announcements.
The space on Disney Wish that’s home to the Star Wars: Hyperspace Lounge will have something new, for instance, but just what that will be will have to wait, said Handke,
“It’s crazy. A lot of my things are not announced today,” he said. “Like I worked on Plaza de Coco and Jumbeaux Sweets and AquaMouse, but there’s a lot more exciting things coming up that we’ll be talking about at a later date, and we’ll have to catch up when those things are announced.”
