Anthony Schwartz, a speedy wide receiver and South Florida product, signed with the Miami Dolphins practice squad Monday.
Schwartz was a star high school athlete at American Heritage in Plantation, where he was a standout college football recruit and world-class sprinter in track and field, holding the world-best under-18 time in the 100-meter dash from 2017 to 2022. He helped his high school football team win back-to-back Class 5A state championships in 2016 and 2017.
After a three-year college career at Auburn, Schwartz was a third-round pick of the Cleveland Browns, No. 91, in the 2021 draft. He ran a 4.25-second 40-yard dash at his pro day before the draft.
Over the past two seasons, Schwartz has played in 25 games with three starts in Cleveland. He totaled 14 receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown, while adding 10 carries for 96 yards and another touchdown. He has returned 15 kickoffs for a 21.5-yard average.
He was waived with an injury settlement from the Browns on Aug. 27. The team then released him from IR on Sept. 19.
Schwartz was at Dolphins practice Monday, wearing a No. 84 jersey.
In a corresponding move to make room for Schwartz, the Dolphins released fellow wide receiver Raleigh Webb from the practice squad.
