Seminole

Pho Au Lac Restaurant And Teahouse at 158 Tuskawilla Road Suite 1300 in Winter Springs shut down on Nov. 7. Inspectors found 16 violations, six of which were a high priority.

Those violations included roach excrement, food held at the wrong temperatures, an improperly stored toxic substance and a sanitizing solution exceeding the maximum concentration allowed.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Nov. 8. They found five violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 25.

Volusia had 16, Brevard had seven, Lake had one, Seminole had five and Osceola had five. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.

Brevard had the highest percentage of restaurants with zero violations during routine food inspections at 14%. Lake came second at 11.6%, Seminole at 8.2% and Orange at 7.9%.

Osceola and Volusia ranked near the bottom at 6.1% and 4.2%, respectively.

Orange County had the most restaurants with no violations at 74. Brevard was in second place with 46, while Seminole was third with 17.

Lake, Osceola, and Volusia had 16, 11, and nine restaurants with no violations, respectively.

Orange

Mr. King Mangonada #2, a food truck, at 701 W. Lancaster Road in Orlando shut down on Oct. 30. Inspectors found 10 violations, two of which were a high priority for flying insects and not having potable water.

The truck is still closed at this time of publishing.

Lee Bistro at 5787 Vineland Road 110 in Orlando shut down on Nov. 3. Inspectors found 30 violations, eight of which were a high priority.

Those violations included an employee washing their hands without soap, nonfood-grade bags used in direct contact with food, rodent activity, food held at the wrong temperature and raw food stored over ready-to-eat food.

Officials conducted a second inspection on Nov. 4. They found 13 violations, and issued time extensions on high-priority violations for improper chlorine sanitizer strength, raw food stored next to ready-to-eat food and food held at the wrong temperatures.

A follow-up inspection is required, but violations are an immediate threat to the public, so the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

Volusia

Daisy’s Diner at 915 N. Spring Garden Ave. in DeLand shut down on Oct. 31. Inspectors found 22 violations, eight of which were a high priority.

Those violations included an employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands, improperly using a pesticide, roach activity and food held at the wrong temperatures.

A second inspection on Nov. 4 found four violations.

Two more inspections were conducted on Nov. 2.

On the first inspection, there were two violations. One was a high priority for roach activity.

The emergency was lifted on the second inspection after finding zero violations.

La Strega Bistro at 275 S. Charles Richard Beall Blvd. Suite 107 in DeBary shut down on Nov. 1. Inspectors found a single high-priority violation for rodent droppings.

A follow-up inspection was required.

On the same day, an administrative complaint was recommended before the restaurant fully complied with the emergency order.

Seminole

Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers at 90 W. Mitchell Hammock Road in Oviedo shut down on Nov. 1. Inspectors found six violations, one of which was a high priority for rodent activity.

A second inspection the same day found four violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

The truck is still closed.

El Korita Restaurant at 3107 N. Hwy 441 in Zellwood shut down on Oct. 23. Inspectors found 16 violations, two of which were a high priority for reach activity and nonfood-grade bags coming in direct contact with food.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 25. They found six violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Hooters Of Orlando at 8801 International Dr. in Orlando shut down on Oct. 24. Inspectors found 28 violations, two of which were a high priority for flying insects and a container of medicine being stored with food items.

Inspectors revisited the restaurant on Oct. 25. they found 18 violations, but none were a high priority or posed an immediate threat to the public, so the restaurant was allowed to reopen.

A second follow-up inspection on Oct. 31 found six basic violations, but inspectors said the restaurant met inspection standards.

Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar at 1545 Palm Bay Road in Melbourne shut down on Oct. 24. Inspectors found seven violations, one of which was a high priority for flying insects.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 25. They found one violation, but it wasn’t a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Seminole County

Thai Basil at 5800 Red Bug Lake Road in Winter Springs shut down on Oct. 23. Inspectors found 10 violations, two of which were a high priority for roach activity and a missing vacuum breaker.

A second inspection the same day found five violations, with a time extension for the missing vacuum breaker.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Cafe Murano at 309 Cranes Roost Blvd. Suite 1000 in Altamonte Springs shut down on Oc. 24. Inspectors found 11 violations, two of which were a high priority for roach and raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 25. They found six violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Hangry Dobo at 12140 Collegiate Way Suite 105 in Orlando shut down on Oct. 13. Officials found 13 violations, one was a high priority for roach activity.

A follow-up inspection on Oct. 16 had six violations. None were a high priority.

Another follow-up inspection is required, but inspectors said violations require further review are not an immediate threat to the public.

Robinson’s Restaurant at 301 W. Main St. in Apopka shut down on Oct. 19. Officials found 20 violations, six of which were a high priority. Those violations included an employee cracking raw egg shells then handling ready-to-eat food without washing their hands, non-food grade paper used as a liner for a food container, raw animal food stored next to ready-to-eat food, rodent activity and food held at the wrong temperatures.

Officials conducted two additional inspections on Oct. 20. On the first inspection, they found eight violations, one of which was a high priority. The restaurant remained closed.

On the second inspection, they found seven violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Volusia

Julita’s Tacos at 1335 N. Woodland Blvd. in DeLand shut down on Oct. 18. Inspectors found 11 violations, four of which were a high priority. Those violations included no potable running water, a sanitizer solution that didn’t meet the proper standards, a stop-sale on food due to temperature abuse and food held at the wrong temperatures.

A second inspection happened the same day. Officials found three violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Brevard

Burger King at 1895 W. New Haven Ave. in Melbourne shut down on Oct. 18. Inspectors found six violations, two of which were a high priority for rodent activity and a stop-sale on food due to evidence of rodents.

An inspection on Oct. 19 found only two violations. They weren’t a high priority.

A follow-up inspection is required, but violations are not an immediate threat to the public

Seminole

Sai Gon Flavors Inc. at 3573 Aloma Ave. Suite 1017 in Oviedo shut down on Oct. 17. Inspectors found 10 violations, including one high priority for roach activity.

Reggae Riddim Jamaican Restaurant at 819 S. Orange Blossom Trail in Apopka shut down on Oct. 9. Inspectors found 31 violations, five of which were a priority. Those violations included dish machine sanitizer not at the right strength, roach activity, a stop-sale on food due to temperature abuse and food held at the wrong temperatures.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 10. They found eight violations, none of which were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Hangry Dobo at 12140 Collegiate Way Suite 105 in Orlando shut down on Oct. 13. Inspectors found 13 violations and only one high-priority violation for roach activity.

The restaurant remains closed.

Lake

Brisas Del Mar Mexican Restaurant And Grill Inc. at 360 U.S. 441 S. in Lady Lake shut down on Oct. 10. Inspectors found 14 violations, two of which were high priority for roach activity and raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food.

There were three more inspections following Oct. 10. One was on Oct. 11, and two were on Oct. 12. The restaurant didn’t comply with the emergency order on any of those visits.

On Oct. 13, officials conducted a final inspection. There were no violations as the restaurant complied with the emergency order.

Osceola

Miguelo’s Ultra Lounge at 219 Broadway Ave. on Kissimmee shut down on Oct. 5. Inspectors found five violations, one of which was a high priority for roach activity.

Officials made a second visit on Oct. 11. They found two violations, but none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Seminole

Teque Tata at 1610 Oviedo Mall Blvd. in Oviedo shut down on Oct. 10. Officials found five violations, including one high-priority violation for roach excrement.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 11. They found no violations.

Le’s Pho at 5040 W. State Road 46 Suite 1114 in Sanford shut down on Oct. 9. Inspectors found 16 violations, five of which were a high priority. Those violations included raw food stored next to ready-to-eat food, roach activity/excrement, food held at the wrong temperatures and dish machine sanitizer not at the right strength.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 10. They found five violations and issued a time extension on the dish machine violation.

A follow-up inspection is required but the violation is not an immediate threat to the public.

Khaos at 178 W. State Road 434 in Winter Springs shut down on Oct. 9. Inspectors found five violations, three were a high priority for roach activity, rodent activity and roach excrement.

A second visit the same day found zero violations.

On Oct. 10, officials said the restaurant complied with the callback.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 54.

Volusia had 15, Brevard had 14, Lake had seven, Seminole had seven and Osceola had five. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.

Official conducted another inspection the same day and found 11 violations. They issued a time extension for food being held at the wrong temperatures and allowed the restaurant to reopen, however, a follow-up inspection is required.

Keke’s Breakfast Cafe at 345 W. Fairbanks Ave. in Winter Park shut down on Oct 2. Inspectors found 11 violations, two of which were a high priority for an employee cracking raw eggs, then touching ready-to-eat food without washing their hands and roach activity.

A follow-up inspection on Oct. 3 found four violations and roach activity. The restaurant remained closed.

On Oct. 4, officials conducted a third inspection. They found two violations, but the restaurant met inspection standards.

Lake

Uncle Taco at 17431 U.S. Hwy 192 in Clermont shut down on Oct. 1. Officials found seven violations, three of which were a high priority. Those violations included not having potable running water, a stop-sale issued on food due to temperature abuse and food held at the wrong temperatures, which led to the stop-sale.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Oct. 3. They found one violation, but it wasn’t a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Seminole

Habaneros Mexican Grill #5 at 829 Eyrie Dr. in Oviedo shut down on Oct. 3. Officials found 28 violations, seven of which were a high priority. Those violations included several instances of employees touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands, flying insects, roach activity and the presence of roach excrement.

A second inspection the same day found nine violations. None were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 35.

Volusia had seven, Brevard had 11, Lake had six, Osceola had 12 and Seminole had 19. Warnings given with required follow-up inspections could lead to a business being shut down if problems remain.

Seminole had the highest percentage of restaurants with zero violations during routine food inspections at 11.1%. Brevard came second at 6.6%, Orange at 6.3% and Lake at 5.4%.

Volusia and Osceola ranked near the bottom at 1.7% and 1.3%, respectively.

Orange County had the most restaurants with no violations at 46. Seminole was in second place with 24, while Brevard was third with 20.

Lake, Volusia and Osceola had eight, six, and two restaurants with no violations, respectively.

Inspectors found 12 violations, one of which was a high priority for rodent activity evidenced by rodent droppings. Officials found droppings near the entrance, inside the kitchen, near the ice mixer, near the women’s restroom and beside a trash can on the floor.

A follow-up inspection on the same day found 11 violations.

A third inspection on Sept. 27 found five violations, none of which were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Osceola

Los Tatos Hot Dog at 5811 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway in Kissimmee shut down on Sept. 29. Inspectors found two violations, one of which was a high priority for not having any potable running water.

A follow-up inspection the same day found one violation, none of which were a high priority.

The restaurant requires a follow-up inspection but contains no immediate threat to the public.

Complaints and warnings

Orange County had the top spot for most warnings and other complaints in Central Florida, with 32.

Twin Peaks at 8350 International Dr. in Orlando shut down on Sept. 20. Inspectors found 20 violations, three of which were a high priority. Those violations included food not cooled within the proper time frame, flying insects and multiple food items held at the wrong temperatures.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Sept. 21. They found 10 violations and issued a time extension for the flying insects. A follow-up inspection was required.

On Sept. 22, inspectors conducted the final inspection. They found nine violations and none were a high priority.

The restaurant met inspection standards.

Volusia

Cruisin Cafe at 900 Main St. in Daytona Beach shut down on Sept. 22. Inspectors found 23 violations, eight of which were a high priority. Those violations included roach excrement, rodent activity, uncovered rodent bait and a stop-sale on food due to it not being in a wholesome condition.

There were two more inspections on Sept 23. On the first inspection, there was only one violation but a follow-up inspection was required. On the second inspection, there were 12 violations. Officials issued time extensions on several high-priority violations, including raw food not separated from ready-to-eat food, a stop-sale on food and food held at the wrong temperatures.

The restaurant still requires a follow-up inspection, but inspectors said violations were not a threat to the public.

The venue was also subject to an official administrative high priority complaint noting the “Establishment removed closure sign posted by the division. -closure sign was totally removed from front entrance street door at a1a/main st. Adhesive from sign has been cleaned off.”

Lake

Olive Branch Mediterranean Italian Grille And Bar at 115 West 3 Ave. in Mount Dora shut down on Sept. 20. Inspectors found 21 violations, two of which were a high priority for roach activity and an improperly stored toxic substance.

Officials revisited the restaurant on Sept. 22. There were six violations, with the roach activity remaining a high priority. On Sept. 25, inspectors visited again finding three violations, with roach activity still an issue.

The facility remained closed after the Sept. 25 inspection.

Seminole

Never Phoget A Taste Of Vietnam at 505 State Road 436 in Casselberry shut down on Sept. 22. Inspectors found 16 violations, three of which were a high priority. Those violations included live roaches, roach excrement and an improperly stored chemical substance.

Officials revisited the restaurant the same day. They found 13 violations and issued a time extension for the presence of roach excrement.

A follow-up inspection required, but inspectors said violations were not an immediate threat to the public.
