A traffic incident in Orange County just after midnight Monday morning killed a bicyclist.

The crash happened around 12:16 a.m., according to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

A driver and a passenger, both 24-year-old women, were traveling on the inside lane of Orange Ave. just north of Perkins Road in a 2022 Toyota Highlander.

The 38-year-old victim was riding his bike in the southbound lanes of Orange Ave. when he tried going northbound and crossed in front of the SUV.

The driver tried to swerve out of the way but hit the right side of the victim, according to FHP.

First responders transported him to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where medical officials pronounced him dead.

The driver and passenger were not harmed in the crash, which is under investigation.
