Quick thoughts from South Florida Sun Sentinel staffers on the Miami Dolphins’ victory over the New York Giants at Hard Rock Stadium:

Dave Hyde, Columnist

It says the Dolphins have reached a certain standard when bad teams don’t bother them. The Giants weren’t run out of the stadium like the Broncos. But Sunday’s win was never in much doubt from the time the Dolphins took their first possession down for a touchdown. Next up: 0-5 Carolina. And the same idea should hold.

Chris Perkins, Dolphins Columnist

The Dolphins are in first-place in the AFC East once again, and it really didn’t take that much work. All they had to do was hold off a bad Giants team. The offense did well save for those two Tua interceptions, and the defense was strong. Plus, special teams was solid again. Nice victory.

David Furones, Dolphins Writer

The Dolphins were clearly on another level than the Giants, and their speed between Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle was way too much for New York to keep up with. You would’ve liked to see Miami keep the turnovers down in, as much as coach Mike McDaniel doesn’t want to say it, was a “get-right” game, but they’ll have more to work on next week against the Carolina Panthers.

Keven Lerner, Assistant Sports Editor

The Dolphins looked a little sluggish in spots against an awful team, but the win was secured and the top spot in the AFC East reestablished with Buffalo losing in London. The only thing that can keep teams close seemingly are Miami turnovers.

The Dolphins were sloppy with two interceptions and two fumbles. But, even with one of those being a pick-six, Miami was never threatened, and the Dolphins jumped back in front of Buffalo atop the division when the Jacksonville Jaguars topped the Buffalo Bills. What the greased-lightning duo of De’Von Achane and Tyreek Hill do out there is otherworldly. Hopefully a tighter ship takes the field against Carolina next week in what should be a rout.
