Miami (6-2) at N.C. State (5-3), Saturday, 8 p.m., ACC Network
Latest line: Miami is favored by 4 1/2 points

It’s hard to know who either of these teams are. Each nipped Clemson in the last two weeks. Each has had trouble playing consistently. The idea of home field in a night game for North Carolina State is the only apparent edge to pick this game. Next up for the Hurricanes: at No. 4 FSU on Nov. 11.

The Hurricanes will need their offense to liven up to win this game. They squeaked out overtime wins against Clemson with a backup freshman QB and another against Virginia despite just two offensive touchdowns in regulation. Miami needs Tyler Van Dyke to improve his performance after a two-interception game against the Cavaliers. If not, this could be another slow day for the unit, and that could spell an upset loss.

Hurricanes quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has thrown seven interceptions in his last three games. He will need to play much better to beat N.C. State on the road. The Wolfpack is coming off a 24-17 win over Clemson. Miami, which won its second straight overtime game Saturday with a 29-26 victory over Virginia, became bowl eligible after failing to qualify last season.
