A 21-year-old woman is dead after a crash early Sunday on Florida’s Turnpike northbound at mile marker 202 in Kenansville, Osceola County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, a 2023 Hyundai Elantra that was driven by a 21-year-old man and carrying the 21-year-old woman who later died, crashed into a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder driven by a 37-year-old man from Georgia, FHP said.

The 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver and two other passengers inside the Hyundai were taken to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.

The 37-year-old and four of his passengers stayed at the scene and did not have any injuries, FHP said. One passenger inside the Nissan was taken to HCA Florida Osceola Hospital with serious injuries, FHP said.

The sequence of events that led to the crash is still being investigated, FHP said.
