Blue Bayou Farms in Yalaha is worth going a little out-of-the-way to purchase fresh produce, farm-grown blueberries, free-range grass milk with heavy cream, and other fine foods.

The farm, off County Road 48 (Next to Yalaha Bakery) has a popular “you pick” blueberry farm behind the produce stand. The blueberries are still blooming and forming right now, but first picking will be Saturday, April 19.

They grow much of their own produce, and glean area farms to get what they don’t grow onsite. The farm has chickens that lay eggs that come in white, brown, blue and green. They bake fresh pies in the Farmhouse Kitchen and they can many items like pickles and relish. The farm sells Amish products and even grows lettuce and other produce in a hydroponic garden. On the side of the produce stand can be seen many plants growing in the sun, including leaks and purple cauliflower.

It’s worth a drive in the country for some premium farm food.
